The Value of Time and a Child’s Love During Quarantine
If you’re like me, these past few months have been a struggle and a joy at the same time. I choose to see it as an enlightening experience more than anything. Mostly because it has allowed me to reevaluate what I hold to be valuable in my life. Time.
Time is finite, and while it seems to move slowly for some, for me it seems to be moving to fast. I can’t make more time out of nothing. But what I can do is make the time I have to offer as valuable as possible. As a parent, we tend to undervalue the worth of what our time means to our kids. If we could step into their shoes we would be able to see that they place a far greater value on spending time with us than we could ever imagine. I’d contend it’s because a child’s love can be so raw and unfiltered. They want to share their love because it’s constantly bubbling up inside each of them. They want to express themselves and feel our warmth of love on the receiving end. In many regards, it’s a very simple arrangement. If you will give me just a fraction of time, I’ll give you a mountain of love. For me, that is one of the most amazing attributes of a child. But it’s also something we should all aspire to be.
